The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is an autonomous body registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. It is also registered as a Public Trust under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. It is recognized as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India.IBPS is also recognised as Centre for providing PhD in Management by SNDT University. Five Faculty Members are also recognised as PhD Guides IBPS is also offering the capability for online testing and online receipt of application.

The IBPS has acquired a unique distinction of being a premier national level Institute for employment testing, admission testing, training and research related to selection and management of human resources. It has been rendering assistance to financial sector in the activities of employees' selection, promotion and placement. For this purpose, the Institute has been designing appropriate measurement tools which are fair and objective.

The Institute is sensitive to the rapid changes that are taking place in the economic scenario of the country and, accordingly, devises and modifies the selection tools to cater to the most updated requirements of the industry. Because of this reputation, many Public Sector undertakings in non-financial sector and Universities and reputed Management Schools have approached IBPS to seek professional services for selection, promotion, placement and admissions to professional courses.

  TheGovernance of the Institute
The Governing Board of IBPS has representatives from RBI, the Public Sector Banks, NIBM, Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India, and IBPS. Matters related to policy and affairs of the Institute are vested in the Governing Board. The Governing Board has constituted committees for financial and academic matters of the Institute.

 The Finance Commitee
The Finance Committee which comprises representatives of Banks and Reserve Bank of India advises to the Governing Board of IBPS on it's financial matters. The Committee gives in-depth considerations to various financial matters including the annual budget and makes recommendations to the Governing Board.


 The Research Advisory Committee
The Research Advisory Committee advises the Institute on matters related to academic aspects. This Committee also provides support and guidance to identify and carry out various research activities.
