Anup Sankar BhattacharyaProfessional ExperienceAcademic backgroundSynopsisPrior to resuming the post of Director of IBPS, Mr. Anup Sankar Bhattacharya worked as the Chairman & Managing Director, Bank of Maharashtra. Presently, he is Member of the Governing Council of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance. He is also Member of the Executive Committee of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance. He is an Honorary Fellow of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance.
He brings with him rich experience coupled with an in depth knowledge of the Banking Industry from across various markets in India. He was also the member of the management committee of the Indian Bank's Association (IBA) and the member of the Personnel Committee of the IBA. He has served as the member of different committees of National Institute of Bank Management, Pune and College of Agricultural Banking, Reserve Bank of India, Pune. From 1971 to 1992, at United Bank of India he worked in different branch locations under rural, semi-urban and urban metropolitan holding different positions ranging from Officer to Branch-in-head. He spent 3 years from 1992-94 managing the Bihar South Region as Regional Head. From 1994-99 he served as secretary to the board and executive secretary to the CMD, United Bank of India before he was posted as DGM for Northern India Region. After a successful stint in North he was elevated as General Manager posted at bank's head office in Kolkata. As General Manger he managed important portfolios like Human Resources, General Administration, Priority Sector, IT, Board and coordination. In October 2008, he joined Indian Bank as its Executive Director. He also held the position of Chairman of subsidiaries of Indian Bank, viz. IndBank Merchant Banking Services Ltd., IndFund Management Ltd. and IndBank Housing Limited since July 2009. He participated in International Banking Summer School at Baden (Austria), workshops and training programs organised by Administrative Staff College of India in Hyderabad, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kolkata, National Institute of Bank Management, Pune and Reserve Bank of India. He was a key speaker at the Regional Conference on Agricultural banks and Rural Micro Finance (organised by World Bank) held at Amman, Jordan in 2009. ********** |
