This is evidenced by the projects entrusted to the Institute year after year including the Institute’s flagship project of CRP for lakhs of candidates which is being effectively implemented for over a decade. Under its flagship initiative, the Common Recruitment Process (CRP), IBPS continued organizing recruitment exams for Customer Service Associates (CSA), Probationary Officers/Management Trainees (PO/MT), and Specialist Officers for Public Sector Banks and Office Assistants and Officers in Scale I, II, and III positions for Regional Rural Banks.
To enhance accessibility, the CRP CSA and CRP RRBs for Office Assistants and Officer Scale I were conducted in 13 regional languages, along with English and Hindi. IBPS also held online Pre-Examination Training (PET) sessions for candidates applying to CRP CSA, CRP PO/MT, and CRP RRBs for Office Assistants and Officer Scale I, helping them become familiar with the test format.
IBPS has been notified as a Public Examination Authority in the schedule of Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 in February 2024. The intent and purpose of the Act is to prevent organized Crime and adoption of Unfair Means in Public Examinations conducted by “Public Examination Authorities” (PEA). This recognition affirms our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of transparency, integrity, and excellence in conducting examinations and assessments.
The Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, has issued a notification published in the Gazette of India vide S.O.837 (pg.1614-15/c), authorising the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) to use Aadhaar authentication using Yes/ No or/ and e-KYC authentication facilitates, on voluntary basis, for verifying the identity of candidates during examinations and recruitment processes conducted by it. IBPS is a designated ‘Public Examination Authority’ under ‘Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024’. The notification has been published under Rule 5 of the Aadhaar Authentication for Good Governance (Social Welfare, Innovation, Knowledge) Rules, 2020, read with the relevant provisions of the Aadhaar Act, 2016. The said notification has been issued subsequent to the authorisation by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) after consultation with the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
This initiative aims to promote Good Governance and strengthen the integrity of the recruitment process in the Banking, Financial Services and Insurance (BFSI) sector by preventing impersonation and other malpractices during examination. It will ensure not only a fair and transparent recruitment process but also protect genuine candidates from being disadvantaged due to fraudulent activities. It will also simplify and expedite identity verification, reduce administrative burden and enhance public trust in the overall examination and selection system.
IBPS has been recognised as a Scientific and Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), which comes under Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India. IBPS had SIRO recognition from 1989 and held this recognition till 2015. Owing to the growing engagement in active research, IBPS recently applied and presented for the recognition afresh and was accorded the same by DSIR. SIRO recognition will help IBPS evolve research infrastructure by way of providing overall administrative support and other assistance.
Being a Public Examination Authority and an institution for higher learning, IBPS has established the Examination Integrity Services Group (EISG) in order to uphold the integrity of public examinations. This department is dedicated to identifying and flagging cases and instances of unfair means and malpractices through data analysis and close monitoring of examination procedures. EISG will work closely with service providers and internal departments to identify suspicious patterns, strengthen protocols, and ensure that best practices are followed at every stage. By focusing on detection and preventive measures for unfair means/malpractices, EISG aims to maintain the high standards of fairness in examinations.
Several Assessment Centres were held for selection in power sector companies in Maharashtra for recruitment in Management cadres during this year.
IBPS has a strong tradition of research and scientific information sharing since inception. In-house periodicals “Suchayanika” and “Research Monograph” were published this year. Suchayanika is a forum to convey and disseminate information on emerging areas, new developments and challenges in assessments. Research Monograph is a platform for publication of research undertaken by faculty of the Institute as well as a scholarly discussion through publication of empirical research and academic articles across the spectrum of psychological testing and assessment. The Risk Management Department publishes half-yearly e-newsletter on risk management, titled “SAJAG”, covering risk incidents, such as use of unfair means in examinations, as well as quality initiatives, by peer organisations, in the niche sector of personnel selection.
