Assessment Centres

In the Assessment Centre Methodology used by IBPS, a team of trained assessors observe, record, and assess the behaviour of a group of applicants, participating individually or collectively in a series of exercises that simulate tasks or replicate job roles for which they are being considered.

IBPS utilises Assessment Centre methodology for the purpose of

  • Selection of Personnel in Management Cadres
  • Identification of the existing levels of competencies for placement in various job roles
  • Identification of gaps in skills and competencies of employees for development purposes

The exercises which are used in Assessment Centre are developed by professionals in the field. The simulation tools are designed and calibrated with due consideration for the competencies required for successful performance of the job role. Moreover IBPS experts who are trained act as assessors. Data from observation by multiple assessors across multiple tools when collated provide reliable insight into levels of competency of each participant. These insights can also be used to provide detailed feedback to participants for development purposes. The use of multiple tools and multiple trained observers in assessment centres have resulted in the process being recognised as transparent and valid by both participants and client organisations.
