Shri M.V. Rao is the Managing Director & CEO of Central Bank of India since 1st March, 2021. Before assuming charge of the current position, Shri Rao served as Executive Director of Canara Bank for over three years.

 

A seasoned banker, Shri Rao is a Post Graduate in Agriculture and began his professional career with erstwhile Allahabad Bank (now Indian Bank) in the year 1988. With over three and a half decades of experience in leadership roles, Shri Rao’s expertise extends to all facets of banking, including Corporate Credit, Retail Assets, Treasury Management, Human Resources, Credit Policy & Monitoring, Stressed Assets Management, Digital Banking, Risk Management, Business Process Transformation etc.

 

As Executive Director, Shri Rao oversaw the smooth merger of Syndicate Bank with Canara Bank.

 

Shri Rao is credited with bringing about a turnaround in the performance of Central Bank of India which is now in an advanced phase of transformation into a Digital Bank. Under his leadership, the Bank has made rapid strides in all facets of banking operations.

 

Being Chairman of the Negotiating Committee constituted by IBA, Shri Rao was instrumental in the smooth and timely conclusion of recently signed industry-level wage revision settlement/joint note between IBA and Unions/Associations representing officers and employees in the banking sector.

 

Shri Rao is a Director on the Board of Export Import Bank of India (Exim Bank) and United India Insurance Co. Ltd. In addition, he is also a Member of the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund Committee of the Reserve Bank of India, Chairman of Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS), Mumbai, Vice Chairman of Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF), Mumbai and a Member on the Governing Board of Indian Institute of Bank Management, Guwahati.

 

Recently, Shri Rao has been elected as Chairman of Indian Banks’ Association.

Smt. Charulatha S. Kar holds a Master’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Mumbai specialising in Banking and Finance. She has done post-graduate Diploma in Treasury and Forex Management from the ICFAI, Tripura. She is also a Certified Associate of the IIB&F.

She has also completed the Advanced Management Program at The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, USA as part of the Leadership and Executive Education Programme of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

She joined RBI as an officer in 1991 and has worked in various RBI Regional and Central offices at Ahmedabad, Chennai and Mumbai. She is currently the Executive Director in Charge of Human Resource Management Department and Department Of Communication. Prior to this, she has been the Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the Human Resource Management Department, RBI.

Her other areas of expertise include government banking, internal financial accounts, information technology and payment and settlement systems. She has been a Member of Faculty in the RBI Training College at Chennai for over five years. She has also been on deputation to the Training institute of the Central Bank of Oman at Muscat for two years.

She has represented the RBI in International Working Groups of the Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems, Bank for International Settlements which studied and published reports on Innovations in Retail Payments, Role of Non-banks in Retail Payments and Fast Payments. She has also represented RBI as a speaker and resource person at many domestic and international forums / seminars and workshops.

Shri Challa Sreenivasulu Setty

Shri Challa Sreenivasulu Setty took charge as Chairman on 28 August 2024. He joined the Board of SBI as Managing Director in January 2020 and headed Retail & Digital Banking vertical from 2020 till 2022 and the International Banking, Global Markets & Technology portfolio of the Bank thereafter, before his elevation to Chairman. He has also chaired various task forces/committees formed by the Government of India.

A Bachelor of Science in Agriculture and a Certified Associate of Indian Institute of Bankers, he started his career in State Bank of India in 1988 as a Probationary Officer. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades in banking, Shri Setty brings extensive experience and expertise in Corporate Credit, Retail, Digital and International Banking.

Shri Setty has held key assignments in State Bank of India in Stressed Assets Management, Corporate banking, MidCorporate banking, Global Markets, Technology and Syndications both in India and abroad.

Shri Shaji K V

National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD)

Shri Shaji K V assumed charge as Chairman of NABARD on 7th December 2022. Prior to this, he was serving as Deputy Managing Director, NABARD since 21st May 2020 and was instrumental in implementing initiatives like software based supervisory inspection, Data-warehouse, process re-engineering and improvement in the risk management practices besides conceptualising the ambitious scheme of computerising Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (PACS). He also steered the crucial Department of Refinance which recorded an all time high business level in FY 2021-22 and the Finance Department of NABARD ensuring efficient use of resources raised from the market and their judicious deployment.

 

Before joining NABARD, he worked in Canara Bank in various capacities for 26 years. As his last assignment, he was at the Corporate Office of Canara Bank, in charge of Strategy, Planning and Business Development during which he successfully handled the project of amalgamation of Syndicate Bank into Canara Bank.

 

He has got extensive Board level experience for about 10 years in various organisations viz., National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company Ltd. and Canara Bank Securities Ltd., besides being the Chairman of Kerala Gramin Bank, the then largest Regional Rural Bank of the country, and also of NABKISAN Finance Ltd., a subsidiary of NABARD.

 

He has been member of many National Level Expert Committees/working groups including Working Group on Agriculture Value Chain Finance, Expert Committee to suggest future roadmap for RRBs, Technical Group on Social Stock Exchange, Committee for drafting guidelines for IPO by RRBs, Committee on Cost sharing of ATMs, etc.

 

Shri Shaji is a post graduate in agriculture and holds PGDM in Public Policy from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad apart from Diploma in Treasury, Investment & Risk Management. Ms. A. Manimekhalai

Ms. A. Manimekhalai is a seasoned Banker with experience of more than 3 decades. She started her career in erstwhile Vijaya Bank as an Officer in 1988 and rose successively as Branch Head, Regional Head and Functional Head of various Departments at Corporate Office. She was instrumental in devising & implementation of strategic policies covering core areas like strategic planning, setting organizational goals, growth strategies, action plans, compliance, internal control, etc.

 

Prior to joining Union Bank of India, Ms. A Manimekhalai was an Executive Director at Canara Bank, wherein she oversaw strategic planning, credit & related matters, inspection, marketing and financial inclusion, State Level Lead Bank responsibilities and the functioning of Regional Rural Banks. She played a pivotal role in effecting successful amalgamation of Canara Bank and Syndicate Bank. She has extensive experience as Director on the Board of five other companies namely Canbank Factors Ltd., Canbank Computer Services Ltd., Canara HSBC Oriental Bank of Commerce Life Insurance Co. Ltd., General Insurance Corporation of India, India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd. and Trustee, Canara Robeco Asset Management Co.

Shri K. Satyanarayana Raju is a Physics graduate, post graduate in Business Administration (Banking and Finance) and CAIIB.

 

He has joined erstwhile Vijaya Bank in 1988 and has risen to the level of Chief General Manager in Bank of Baroda. During his tenure at erstwhile Vijaya Bank (Bank of Baroda), he has headed various branches including specialized corporate banking branch. He has served as Regional Head of various regions and also served as Zonal Head of Mumbai zone of the amalgamated Bank of Baroda. He has also headed operations and services department at Head Office. Shri K. Shri Rajneesh Karnatak has assumed charge as Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of Bank of India on 29th April, 2023. He was Chief General Manager of Punjab National Bank until his appointment as Executive Director in Union Bank of India from October 21, 2021. He is a post Graduate in Commerce (M.Com) and is a Certified Associate from Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB).

 

Shri Karnatak has a rich banking experience of over 29 years and carries varied branch and Administrative office experience. As General Manager in erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce, he has headed Large Corporate Credit Branches and verticals such as Credit Monitoring, Digital Banking and Mid Corporate Credit. Post the amalgamation of Oriental Bank of Commerce into Punjab National Bank, he has also headed Credit Review & Monitoring Division and Corporate Credit Division in Punjab National Bank.

 

Shri Karnatak has attended various training and Leadership Development Programs from IIM-Kozhikode and JNIDB Hyderabad and has also taken part in Advance Management Programme at IMI (International Management Institute) Delhi & IIBF (Indian Institute of Banking & Finance). He was a part of 1st batch of Senior Officers selected by Banks Board Bureau for Leadership Development Program of IIM Bangalore & Egon Zehnder. Shri Swarup Kumar Saha

Shri Swarup Kumar Saha assumed the charge as MD & CEO of Punjab & Sind Bank on June 3rd 2022. Before taking up this assignment he was Executive Director of Punjab National Bank since March 10, 2021.

Shri Saha, a graduate in Science from University of Calcutta, Kolkata, started his career in Banking in erstwhile Oriental Bank of Commerce in the year 1990 as Probationary Officer. He is a Certified Associate member of Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). He also holds a Diploma in Treasury, Investment and Risk Management (DTIRM) from Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF) and Certificate in Risk in Financial Services from IIBF in collaboration with CISI, London along with various certifications related to IT Security, Cyber Crimes and Fraud Management.

Shri Saha was one of the participants for the flagship Leadership Development Program of Banks Board Bureau (BBB) in 2019 conducted through IIM, Bangalore. He has also participated in Advanced Management Program conducted by CAFRAL/Stern Business School, New York and Leadership Development Program conducted by NIBM & Kellogg School of Management, USA.

In a career spanning over 30 years, he has worked in different capacities and has worked across the country. Shri Ajay Kumar Srivastava

Shri Ajay Kumar Srivastava has been elevated as Managing Director and CEO of Indian Overseas Bank with effect from 1st January 2023 from his current posting as Executive Director since 9th October 2017.

 

He started his banking career as Probationary officer in 1991 with Allahabad Bank where he worked in various capacities in different parts of the country. He is an astute and hardcore banker with vast field level experience and has the distinction of having successfully led the largest and most critical areas of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Delhi while working at senior level in Allahabad Bank.

 

After successful completion of about 27 years in Allahabad Bank he was elevated as Executive Director by Government of India and he joined Indian Overseas Bank on 09.10.2017.

 

At Indian overseas Bank as Executive Director, he had a very challenging journey. Bank was incurring losses since 2014, was in PCA since 2015 and financial parameters were in bad shape besides many other challenges. He made strategies for each of the key areas and successfully implemented them at the ground level with the support of the Board. He served the Bank as Executive Director for more than five years and handled all the departments and portfolios during the period. The highlight of his stint as Executive Director is that he had played a very key role in bringing the Bank out of loss in March 2020 and out of PCA in September 2021. Moreover, he was the only Executive Director in the Bank for about 14 months during 2020-2021.

 

He was appointed as Director on the Board of India Infrastructure Finance Company Limited (IIFCL) by Government of India for two years. He has also served as Director on the Board of Regional Rural Bank in his previous Bank.

Dr. Partha Ray

Director, National Institute of Bank Management

Dr. Partha Ray was Professor of Economics at the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta during December 2011 – April 2021, where he taught Macroeconomics, Global Political Economy, and Recent Issues on Monetary Policy and Banking.  During 2007 – 2011 he was Adviser to the Executive Director (India) at the International Monetary Fund, Washington D.C.  Earlier (during 1989 – 2006) he was working in the specialist cadre of Economists in the Reserve Bank of India (RBI); his last position was Director, Department of Economic and Policy Research, RBI.  Educated in Kolkata, Mumbai and Oxford, he has written extensively on issues relating to Indian economy, global financial crisis, monetary policy, banking and finance.

Dr. D. B. Phatak

Professor Emeritus,

Dr. Phatak obtained his Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from SGSITS Indore and his M Tech and Ph D from IIT Bombay. He has been serving with IIT Bombay since 1971 and has donned many roles in his career. He headed the CSE department from 1991 to 1994 He was the founding head of Kanwal Rekhi School of IT from 1998 to 2002, the first Dean of Resources from 1995 to 1998 and Head of the SJ Mehta School of Management from 2004 to 2005. He was Subrao M Nilekani Chair Professor from 2000 to 2013. After superannuation, he was reappointed retiring in 2018. He is currently a Professor Emeritus of IIT Bombay.

 

He has been instrumental in starting an IT incubator to foster innovation through start-up companies. It has now evolved into SINE (Society for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), which is considered as one of the best incubator in India. He started the country’s first interactive distance learning program using VSATs, which has blossomed into the Centre for Distance Engineering Education (CDEEP). He set up the Affordable Solutions Lab (ASL) in 2000. He is regarded as the pioneer of smart card usage in financial transactions in India. He developed affordable devices such as Smart Card Reader, thin clients and Clicker devices. He was elected Fellow of CSI in 1999 and Fellow of IETE in 2000. He is an Open Source evangelist, and has pioneered initiatives to popularize Free and Open source Software Usage.

 

In 1983-84, he helped to set-up the department of Computer Science in his Alma Mater SGSITS and later in Indore University. During his sabbatical leave in 2003, he visited numerous smaller engineering colleges in the country. After interactions with thousands of teachers and students, he felt the need to actively engage, guide, and mentor the enormous talent existing in India. He played a leading role in initiatives like the Eklavya Project, T10KT (Train 10 Thousand Teachers at a time), Learnercentric MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) etc. His main focus is improvement of quality of education at a large scale, commensurate with the national aspiration.

 

As an expert in Databases and Information systems, he has been a consultant and advisor to a number of organizations and ministries on issues related to IT. In the financial sector, he has been an IT advisor to SBI, RBI, UTI, IDBI, LIC, New India, UIIC, SEBI, NSDL, etc. He is a permanent invitee to the payment system Board of RBI. He chairs the IT committee of SEBI. He has served on the boards of several companies and institutions, including IDBI bank, UTIISL, IDBIISL, Bank of Baroda, HDFCAMC, NIA, IGNOU, IIT Gandhinagar, and NIT Agartala. He currently serves on the boards of MKCL, ReBIT, IBPS, VJTI, IIT Indore (Chairperson), PSL, and Baroda Sun Technologies (Chairperson).

 

Prof. Phatak is recipient of the ‘Excellence in Teaching’ award and the ‘Industrial Impact Research Award’ from IIT Bombay. He was conferred ‘Life Time Achievement Awards by Skoch foundation in 2003, by Data Quest in 2008, by Dewang Mehta Business School Awards in 2010, by Interop in 2014, by IIT Bombay in 2014 and by CSI in 2018. He was listed among fifty most influential Indians, by Business week in 2009. He was honoured with Padma Shri (2013) in recognition of his services in Science and Technology.

 

Dr. Phatak believes that teaching cannot be just a profession, but has to be one’s Dharma. His dream is to see a resurgent India, catching up with the world using IT as a spring-board.

Ms. Priya Srivastava is Assistant Professor and Division Head of the Research and Development (R&D) Division at Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS). The R&D Division is responsible for the conduct of Group Exercises, Assessment Centers, Competency Mapping, Library Management and handles the empanelment of external experts. The department is also responsible for all the publications of IBPS. Ms. Priya Srivastava has completed her Masters in Industrial Psychology from SNDT Women’s University.

As a Faculty member at IBPS, since 2010, she has been involved with various activities of selection and assessment projects entrusted to the Institute. She has been a part of the Design and Analysis Division and both the Client Relations Divisions of IBPS and is currently handling the R&D Division. She has been associated with various assessment methods adopted by the Institute from the development and analysis of primarily aptitude tests, conduct of Assessment Centre Programmes, conduct of Group Exercises for selection/ placement in various cadres. She has also conducted training programmes and seminars for panel members of Group Exercises and Interviews. Shri Harideesh Kumar B

Shri Harideesh Kumar B. hails from Mangalore in Karnataka. He is a Post Graduate in Public Administration with Degrees in Science & Law and started his banking career with Vijaya Bank (Now Bank of Baroda) in the year 1978. He is also a Honorary Fellow of Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF).

 

He has worked in various capacities in the Vijaya Bank and as Executive Director of Canara Bank. His distinguished career of 40 years spans across Goa, Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Delhi and Bangalore. He has headed Vijaya Bank’s Regional offices at Chandigarh, Bangalore and Delhi. He has worked in various operational areas of banking.

 

As Executive Director of Canara Bank, he was overseeing Departments such as Prime Corporate Credit, Human Resources, Information Technology, Digital Banking, Treasury Operations, Retail Banking, Recovery, Risk Based Supervision, General Administration, etc. As part of Gyan Sangam 2016 IBA nominated him to lead the sub-group on “Building a Common Cyber Security Framework for PSBs”.

 

He has served as Director on the Board of M/s. National Payments Corporation of India. He was on the Board of M/s. Canara Bank Securities Ltd. and M/s. Canara Bank Venture Capital Fund (subsidiaries of Canara Bank) and was a Trustee in M/s. Canara Robeco Mutual Fund.
